University Education

• Laurea in Computer Science, University of Pisa, 1986. Thesis in theoretical Computer Science, title: “Expressiveness of the Second Order Type Structures” (advisor prof. Giuseppe Longo), in which some extensions of lambda-calculi with strong type structures were studied.
• Specialization grant at IRST in Artificial Intelligence, 1987

Research Experience and Interests

• Since 1988 researcher at IRST in the Natural Language Processing Group / Communication and Cognitive Technologies Division
• 1997-2000 Lecturer at University of Verona, Computer Science.
• Research activity in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, intelligent interfaces, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, knowledge-based systems, user models, adaptive hypermedia, lexical knowledge bases (WordNet/MultiWordNet), word-sense disambiguation, computational humour.
• Author of over seventy published papers, both in scientific journals and in conference proceedings.
• Player of a key role in the definition and the development of many IRST projects funded by European research programmes.
