Some info about me

I was born on February 13, 1969 at Orbassano ( Torino ), but my family lives at Cavaglia' (Biella).

After attending school (Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale-Informatica), I decided to go to University in Torino . I chose the Faculty of Philosophy, but taking some particular exams: philosophical ones (of course!), Computer Science's ones and other ones about Cognitive Science, Semiology, Linguistics, etc.

At last, in February 1996 I got my "Laurea in Filosofia del Linguaggio" (i.e. Language Philosophy). The title of my dissertion was "Un'interfaccia intelligente per il modello di un attore sociale: sviluppo di dispositivi per la comprensione di testi". In short, my thesis concerned with a system that reads and "understands" some texts and finally it extracs some specific information. Advisors were prof. Luciano Gallino and prof. Diego Marconi.
Since July 1996 I moved to Trento to work in Natural Language Processing and Communication Group of IRST (Istituto per la Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica). I worked on Information Extraction from text in LE-FACILE project . In particular, I worked on Named Entity Recognition (recognition of proper names, dates, percentages, curriencies, etc.). Now, I'm working on corpus annotation in TAL (Trattamento Automatico del Lingua) project. The goal of the project is to develop italian linguistic resources and softwares for natural language processing systems.
